Zero Waste

In January 2019 I decided to minimize my waste and began the long journey to zero waste. It's been a long time but I'm still learning a lot and making a lot of mistakes with it. Here are just some arbitrarily organized ramblings, anecdotes, and lessons I've learnt along the way.

Patience

It's really easy to be hard on myself for messing up, but I do my best and as a consumer I can only do so much.

"We don't need a handful of people doing zero waste perfectly, we need millions of people doing it imperfectly" ~Anne Marie Bonneau

Zero Waste Cooking

A short presentation from a micro talk I gave on cooking with scraps and making the most out of produce.

Zero Waste Gifting

Learning moment for me: All traditional wrapping paper is non recyclable.

Most widely available wrapping paper is made of a mixture of materials - so they're non recyclable, non compostable. A brainstorm of alternate gift wrapping:

  • Scarves

  • Reusable Bags

  • Old/Torn clothes

  • Recycled paper

  • Newspaper
